In search of things to do and see in Huelva? Indulge yourself in the capital of this beautiful province with its numerous cultural attractions, natural and historic tours, live music, Latin dance exhibitions, sports and exquisite cuisine!
Thanks to its geographical location there are a wide range of possibilities in Huelva. And of course if you are situated in the city, you can use it as a base from which to explore the whole province!
The versatile Doñana National Park, the magic of 'El Rocío', the beach at Matalascañas, the history of local characters such as Moguer and the famous writer Juan Ramón Jiménez and of course nearby Palos de la Frontera, the Natural Park of Isla Cristina, Ayamonte and the beautiful mouth of the River Guadiana. There's no time to be bored when on holiday in Huelva...but dont be overcome by the amount on offer either!
There is sunshine and the light in Huelva throughout the year, which leaves us some spectacular and magical sunsets and sunrises. Good spots to enjoy both are the ' Muelle del Tinto', the 'Paraje Natural de Marismas del Odiel' nature park, the beach at 'Playa del Espigó' and best of all, from the lighthouse!
Once here take the opportunity to enjoy the fantastic views from the Guadiana river mouth, one of the two rivers that borders the city, the River Tinto and the River Odiel. There are also superb views from the 'Punta del Sebo', with the imposing monument 'Monumento a la fe descubridora' which was donated by sculptor Miss Whitney to the city in the name of the people of the United States as an expression of friendship to the city whose generosity and clear vision made possible the discovery of their land by Christopher Columbus. In all of these areas you'll be blown away by the beauty of the nature and countryside around you.
Also from the 'Muelle del Tinto' you'll be able to view the plains and salt marshes from afar, and if you look back you'll have great views of Huelva.
In November the city organises the Latin American Film Festival, which is an event that throughout its existence has done important work to promote the understanding and appreciation of Latin American cinema. In the 'Gran Teatro', with events also usually organised in the spring, you will find a varied program of films on offer.
Also in the nearby misty village of 'El Castillo' in the months of July and August, there are theatrical productions organised.
And there are excursions both for young and old! You can choose to go on horseback along routes organised by the company 'Doñana Ecuestre' through the Doñana National Park, boat trips along the estuary, and trips to towns like San Lucar de Guadiana, where you can even pay a quick visit our neighbouring country, Portugal.
And to top it off, rural tourism is all the rage at the moment, so if you come to Huelva with children, or pets, or both, a trip out into the nearby countryside is the perfect way to get out and breathe some fresh country air!
